How big is the Big Pad?
The landing zone measures 45 by 58 inches, roughly 4 by 5 feet, with 5 inches of foam. Closed, it packs to about 29 by 45 by 10.5 inches and weighs 20 pounds.
What foam is inside?
A recyclable three-layer sandwich of closed and open cell foam, with a hybrid hinge that keeps the foam like new and gives you a smooth landing target. We use a unique foam at the top of our layers with infinite memory, so it prevents any creasing in your landing surface, ensuring a long life for your foam and pad.
How does it carry on the approach?
Beefy, well-balanced shoulder straps with a thick 2-inch hip belt, plus three grab handles for dragging it between problems without packing up provide multiple comfortable carry options. For even greater comfort It's also compatible with our Deluxe Hip Belt for hauling big loads on long approaches.
Can I attach other pads to it?
Yes. With its size, the Big Pad makes a natural base for a stack. Partner it with our Load Flap to quickly and securely piggyback multiple pads when hiking.
How does the custom color option work?
You choose the background and accent colors, and we sew the landing zone one of a kind from recycled cutting-room scraps in our Pennsylvania workshop. Every Big Pad is made in the USA and no two look alike.
